Amanda and Gary were great sports to come out on a bright and unusually hot Boston spring day for their engagement photography. We started out by the Boston Harbor Hotel, taking in the beauty of the arch along with the pedestrians floating by. Then made it across the bridge to the Seaport for a few more. I hope they had as much fun as I did.
I always ask for a little insight into their story, so here are there answers and a few sneak peeks!
How did you two meet?
A mutual friend, Morgan set us up on a blind date. We met at the Fat Cat in Quincy for dinner, both of us hesitant and nervous and ended up closing the restaurant.
Tell us the proposal story~
We went to Newport RI for the weekend. I was getting over being sick but still didn't feel that great but we had planned this weekend for we went anyways. It was April and still chilly in Newport on the water. We decided to tour some of the mansions- an indoor/ warm activity. Gary kept asking to walk down to the cliff walk on the water which I kept turning down because it was so cold out, having no idea that he was planning to propose there. As the day went on I felt worse, wanted to lay down at the hotel and Gary reluctantly took me. After a nap, he asked if I could suck it up for a nice dinner, and am I glad I did. We went to Mama Rosa's little Italian restaurant. Still having no idea what Gary had planned for the weekend, he kept getting up from the dinner table, and I asked "what is wrong with you, why do you look so nervous". Moments later, he got down on one knee and asked "will you marry me" I was in such shock and so surprised, I don't think I even said yes until a couple next to us asked haha. I had just kept staring at my ring, which I still do to this day! I didn't feel sick anymore, haha!
What details are you most excited about for your wedding?
We are excited about our venue, Blackrock which will be decorated for Christmas. Also, our wedding cake will be from the Icing on the Cake, my family has been using the bakery for all of our family's parties and events. The lemon raspberry cake is the best!
What look were you going for in your engagement session?
Casual date night look in a white dress and and Gary in jeans and button up. The other a very formal look in the black dress and black suit.
Do you have any tips or advice for couples getting ready for their session?
Have a drink or two before your session, Gary and I are not great at taking pictures. We were very stiff, nervous and awkward at first. We stopped at a bar to change outfits and grabbed a drink and it definitely helped us loosen up.
