Amanda and Jeff's Maryland Barn Destination Wedding

We love shooting destination weddings, whether it's a tropical beach wedding or a serene lake town with a rustic barn wedding, they are all such a great time and always seems to run a bit more smoothly.  Add to the mix that the beautiful bride and her family are OUR family and it gets even better!  Christian actually grew up very closely with Jenny, Amanda's mom, so when we learned they wanted us to shoot Amanda's wedding, we were absolutely honored!

Amanda and Jeff actually live in Savannah now, but luckily her mom is only about an hour from the venue so was able to help a ton during the planning process!  I was able to meet everyone last year at our wedding for the first time.   It immediately felt like we had always been family but I was definitely looking forward to this weekend and the opportunity to get to know everyone better.

As we drove from the Baltimore airport into the Deep Creek area, we were in awe of the rolling hills and gorgeous lush landscape.  It seemed like the lake that the town is known for, came out of nowhere!  During our timeline calls we had heard about the amazing views from the house they had rented for the weekend and had planned for the first look, but I still felt unprepared for how breath taking it truly was.

The same was true for the Chanteclaire Farm where the ceremony and reception took place.  We had the rare opportunity to attend the rehearsal to get a lay of the land and see the picturesque grounds we would be using as a backdrop the next day.

The wedding day had finally come and Amanda was a fairy tale bride.  As she finished her hair and makeup we were able to use the incredible house to shoot the details and had plenty of room to shoot Amanda, surrounded by her bridal party.  While she finished up we took the short ride down the road to the house Jeff and his family had rented.

We walked in expecting the normal chaotic energy that surrounds wedding days, only instead to find a laid back group of guys relaxing on the balcony, taking in the scenery and casually getting into their suits.  Jeff was equally relaxed and ready to see his bride to be!

Before we were ready to head to the first look, Jeff had personalized cuff links he had to open, a gift from Amanda as well as another surprise from his mom.  She had handed him an antique picket watch that belonged to his grandfather, was over 100 years old and just happened to have the same initials as Jeff's engraved.  It was a beautiful moment that we were able to capture.

First looks are always touching for us to shoot.  Once the couple start walking toward each other you can almost see the emotions on their faces.  From nerves, to anxiety to making sure they don't trip to finally excitement, pure love and relief we love every minute of it!  It's even better when you have a personal relationship with the couple and get to be a fly on the wall during such an intimate moment.  Amanda and Jeff went one step further, they chose to read letters to each other just seconds before the walked and saw each other!

After a few shots around the house, to get those stunning views it was off to the venue to take advantage of what they had to offer!  Tree lined roads with softly fallen leaves, rolling hills, an awesome shed (with the cutest little barn kitten that later joined the wedding) all made for a photographer's dream!

When the ceremony came we were all fighting back tears, watching these two officially become one.  They had made sure to make the ceremony meaningful in every way possible, making it even more emotional!  It was so beautiful!  We hope you enjoy the little sneak peek and day of slideshow we projected that night on the side of the barn!  Amanda and Jeff we are so happy for you both and feel so blessed to have been there and document your love!  We love you!
