At Home with Baby Lincoln

We have the wonderful opportunity to watch some of our wedding couples as their families grow and an even bigger blessing of shooting some of those milestones!  Recently we had the incredible chance to see Dave and Andrea's new baby, Lincoln and attempt to shoot newborn pictures without disturbing him too much!  It's been so beautiful to not only shoot Dave and Andrea for their engagement session but also their gorgeous Berkshires wedding (check them out here...and here).  I have to say we were so humbled to shoot the next step in their lives and even better was seeing all of the memories we have been included in all throughout their home!  From framed gift prints, to framed canvases, fine art clusters and their brilliant wedding album it was so rewarding to see it all being displayed so timelessly.

Newborn photography can be a little tricky, you have to get the little nuggets at just the right time, usually within the first eight days.  And then hope that you are there at a time that they are sleepy enough to prop them just the way you want without upsetting them too much!

We were pretty lucky to start out, little Lincoln was snoozing away even as we moved him all around, put lights on him, stripped him naked and got the lens right in his face, can you imagine trying to nap through all of that?!?!  Eventually our luck ran out though and Lincoln was ready for company!  I love the expressions we caught of him as his eyes started to squint open seeming to say, "What are you trying to do to me?".

It's pretty difficult to get connection with the camera at this age, but he was modeling it up for me.  Looking right into the lens with those gorgeous eyes!

But, I have to say my absolute favorite is this last one from the sneak peek...Blue Steel!  I love it so much and love that Dave and Andrea allowed us to document such precious first days of baby Lincoln!  Thank you, we love you guys!  Make sure to scroll below to read some from the proud Mama and Papa!

We were never worried. We knew he was in good hands because we trust you guys. We wish he was a little more sleepy.

What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken?

Get them done. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that you shouldn't miss out on. after only a month he is so different and awesome.
