I've said over and over how much I love spending time with our couples for their engagement sessions. Never more true than the time we spent this weekend with Tatijana and Steve in the Financial District of Boston. Rainy, overcast and windy would be an appropriate way to describe this past Saturday in Boston. We all considered rescheduling our shoot, but figured we would make the best of it. After meeting at the Boston Harbor Hotel, for some liquid courage, we went onto make some images. We had a wonderful time braving the weather and running all around downtown Boston to create some amazing engagement photography images for this fantastic couple.
Last year I started the move to the Fuji system from many years of shooting with Nikon. I love saying that this is my first engagement shoot using all Fujifilm equipment, and will have so many more to come.
Here are a few of the images we created together. We always ask our couples to let us know their story. Here is what they said...
How did you two meet?
Steve and I had a mutual friend in common who introduced us to one another. One day we winded up bumping into each other while we were out and we had a really good time talking, shortly after that run in Steve asked me out on our first date. I wasn't entirely sure it was a date because we had become close as friends. However, ever since that first date we have been inseparable and a part of each other’s lives. We started off as friends and quickly fell in love. We couldn’t imagine our lives without one another and feel truly blessed every day that passes that we were able to find one another.
Tell us the proposal story~
Steve and I flew to Chicago with about 30 of our friends from my running group to run the Chicago Marathon in October of 2015. Steve went as a supporter and spectator and when I finished my marathon Steve surprised me at our hotel by asking me to marry him. He secretly recorded the entire proposal so it’s really amazing that we get to watch it back whenever we want to. We were beyond happy and it was a very special intimate moment between both of us. The fact that we got to enjoy the city and celebrate our love on the days to follow was a great bonus. Chicago will forever have a special place in our hearts.
Do you have any tips or advice for couples getting ready for their session?
Just to relax. I had a hard time because I was too self conscious about myself and how I looked to the outside. Being able to relax and not over think things too much is key.
How was your overall session experience?
Our session was amazing. Christian and Mel did so much to make us feel comfortable. I really cant wait to see the finished product. I never thought I was into having engagement photos, Steve either, but we both winded up having a really great experience with it all.
